Your comprehensive handbook for interactive Python learning, the in-browser playground, cloud drive saving, coding practice, verifiable certificates, and platform features.
Learn how PyLabs works, how to create an ID without mandatory email, and how to configure your profile.
PyLabs is a modern, interactive platform designed to teach Python by actually writing and running code directly in your browser. No installation, complex terminal setups, or compilers are required.
You can register with just a unique username (4–15 characters: lowercase letters, digits, dots, hyphens and underscores, starting with a letter) and a password. An email address is entirely optional, putting your privacy and simplicity first.
Set your display name, optional school/institution, daily lesson targets, and manage multiple recovery methods in your Account Settings.
Explore the 6 structured modules, 29 in-depth lessons, and client-side Python execution engine.
The course takes you from foundational syntax all the way to object-oriented architecture and practical standard library usage:
Lessons 1–5
Lessons 6–10
Lessons 11–15
Lessons 16–20
Lessons 21–25
Lessons 26–29
Every code editor runs on Pyodide (Python compiled to WebAssembly). When you press Run, Python executes in a disposable browser worker on a separate execution origin. Use Stop to end a run. Submitting practice or saving a file sends that work to PyLabs; running code alone does not save it. Startup, execution time and available memory depend on your device.
Write any script, adjust font size, auto-save to PyLabs Drive, and resize code/output panes.
The Python Playground is a full in-browser IDE for running Python code, testing algorithms, and saving scripts to your personal cloud drive.
Click Save to store scripts into PyLabs Drive. Toggle Autosave to automatically back up your code after a 1.5-second typing pause.
When saving an existing file, choose to overwrite with optimistic version checking or click Save a copy to create a new script branch without losing changes.
When your code calls input("prompt"), the terminal pauses execution and opens a responsive input prompt to accept user keystrokes in real time.
Scale editor typography with - 14px + controls, and drag the central split divider to balance editor and console pane sizes.
Test your knowledge with 290 quiz questions, complete module exams, and earn your official certificate.
Reinforce what you learn through progressive assessments designed to validate your genuine Python proficiency:
Tested after every lesson
First attempt only: XP is awarded once, on your first completed attempt at each quiz or exam. Retakes are for practice.
Auto-Submit: Quizzes automatically lock and grade on the server when the per-question countdown (15 seconds each) expires.
Official course certification
Upload supported project files, grant specific recipients access, and open scripts in Playground.
Every registered learner receives a personal encrypted Cloud Drive backed by Cloudflare R2 storage for saving scripts and assets:
Store Python scripts (.py), configuration files, text notes, JSON datasets, and reference documents securely up to your account allowance.
Open any saved .py file directly into the Playground editor with one click to test, run, and continue coding without manual downloads.
Grant access to specific learners or share with the administrator. Shared files open in read-only mode, and recipients can clone them to their own Drive via Save a copy.
Download or delete your files at any time. File deletion instantly revokes access and queues underlying storage for automated garbage collection.
Work through 53 coding challenges, run modified worked examples, and review flashcards.
Mastery is reinforced through three distinct, hands-on practice formats available throughout the platform:
Graded practice problems across all curriculum modules
Interactive lesson demonstrations
Every lesson provides a runnable worked example demonstrating key concepts in action.
Modify the starter code with your own changes and run it in the browser to produce valid fresh output.
Spaced repetition memory review
Interactive flashcards covering built-in functions, slice syntax, methods, and data structures.
Cards are resurfaced on spaced review intervals to cement syntax into your long-term memory.
Earn XP across study time, exercises, quizzes, and exploration. View full mechanics on the XP Tracker.
PyLabs features an intuitive, transparent XP reward system where every educational milestone is verified. Review complete mechanics on the XP System & Tracker page.
Public Leaderboard Qualification:
Learners must have more than 0 XP to appear on the rankings. This keeps the leaderboard active and free of inactive placeholders.
Explore our 3-tier recovery options, security questions, phone OTP, and Google linking.
PyLabs does not require an email at signup. To protect your access, three automated recovery methods are provided in your Account Settings:
Choose 3 security prompts and configure secret answers. Answers are securely hashed, enabling self-service password reset if you forget credentials.
Attach an SMS-verified phone number to your account to receive one-time SMS passcodes for instantaneous password recovery.
Link your Google identity for 1-click sign-in convenience and instant account recovery without remembering separate passwords.
If you lose access without any automated recovery channel configured, you can submit a recovery request directly to platform administrators.
Boost your learning speed with keyboard navigation and editor commands.
Use these keyboard shortcuts inside any PyLabs code editor:
Scale reading and editor fonts globally or per-page, with persistent settings synced to your profile.
PyLabs includes a dedicated typography scaling engine designed for comfortable reading across all screen sizes and visual preferences:
Choose All pages to apply text scaling globally across every course lesson and reference guide, or select This page only to set a custom zoom level exclusively on the current route.
Your chosen zoom factor (from 90% up to 130%) is cached in browser localStorage for zero-flicker rendering and automatically saved to your user profile in the database.
100%) in the top navigation bar.Submit feedback with screenshots, receive solutions from administrators, and get assistance.
We continuously improve PyLabs based on learner bug reports, suggestions, and feedback:
Click the floating chat icon at the bottom-right corner of any page to open the feedback panel. Type your observation or issue and hit send.
Attach an image file or simply paste an image directly from your clipboard (Ctrl+V). Screenshots are downscaled and kept for 30 days.
When you report an exercise bug or confusion while signed in, administrators can review your diagnostic telemetry and reply with personalized solutions and explanations directly through your notification feed.
