Learn Python by

12 modules, 72 lessons, 120 graded exercises and 1080 quiz questions: taking you from your first print() to classes, generators and four small projects.

Real Python, in the tab

Every example, exercise and the playground runs on CPython 3.14 compiled to WebAssembly. No install. Examples and the playground need no account; coding practice needs a free ID.

1080 quiz questions

Ten per lesson plus module exams and a final, including concept checks, predict-the-output, and spot-the-bug challenges.

171 reference entries

Built-in functions and every list, dict, string, set, tuple and file method, each with runnable examples.

Progress that sticks

Sign in and your lessons, exercise results, quiz marks, streak and leaderboard rank are saved. A username and a password is the whole signup, with no email address asked for.

Free learner ID

What an ID Gets You

Store your files, save lesson and exercise progress, keep quiz marks, use review tools, collect XP and continue on another device. The course itself stays open without an account.

Create a free ID

It remembers where you stopped

Finished lessons are ticked off, and the home page always points at the next one of the 72. Close the tab mid-module and come back a week later without hunting for your place.

Your marks are kept

All 120 coding practice exercises and every quiz attempt are stored with the answers you gave, so you can see which of the 1080 questions caught you out and retake just those.

A drive for your own files

Upload your own .py scripts, notes and screenshots, up to 10 MB per file, and open them from any browser you sign in on.

Wrong answers come back

A question you miss goes into a review queue immediately, then returns ten minutes later after a miss, then four hours, then a day, three days, a week. Each correct answer moves it up a box; one wrong answer sends it back to the start.

Streak, XP and a leaderboard place

Finishing a lesson is worth 10 XP; server-scored quizzes earn points and a perfect-result bonus. Browser coding practice earns no assessment XP. Any day you use the site, even just the playground, keeps the streak alive. The leaderboard shows your display name, not your username.

Notes and bookmarks that stay put

Write notes on any lesson and bookmark the ones you want to reread, plus anything from the 171 reference entries. Your notes get their own page with a search box, and saved items get theirs.

20 badges and a certificate

Badges land as you go, from your first program to a thirty-day streak. Finish every lesson and pass the final exam at 70 per cent or better and the certificate page prints with your name and the date.

The same place on every device

Progress is stored on the server against your ID, not in one browser's local storage. Read a lesson on your phone on the bus and the laptop already knows about it.

And it is a username and a password, nothing else

The course, the playground, the reference and every quiz work without an account. An ID exists so the work you put in survives closing the tab.

  • No email address

There is no inbox to check and no confirmation link to wait for. We never ask for your email at all.

  • Three things to type

A username, a display name and a password. That is the whole form.

  • Under a minute

You are signed in the moment the form is accepted. No setup wizard, no confirmation step and no questions about your goals.

  • Free, with no card

There is nothing to pay and no trial that expires. Python runs in your own browser, so there is no server bill to pass on.

Ready to be tested?

Quizzes are front and center, featuring 1080 questions across lesson checks, six module exams and a 30-question final drawn from the whole bank.
